Quality
Ideal Films is about quality. And these standards apply just as much with young people as with any other type of production.
Over the years, we have developed ways of working that enables young people to be the authors of their work whilst still producing work of such a quality that they are amazed and delighted by it.
Teamwork
The main principle is to create a team, adults and young people, such that everyone feels ownership of the film we make.
Watch Icehouse (2006, 11 minutes) and Rite Of Passage (2008, 6 minutes) to see what we mean about quality.
And then watch the two short 'making of' documentaries to get an idea of how they were created: Icehouse - The Story (2006, 3 minutes) and Rite Of Passage - Making Of (2008, 4 minutes).
Icehouse won Best Thriller at the 2006 national First Light Awards. To see what a swanky affair it was, watch an excerpt of the award ceremony (2006, 2 minutes).
We are delighted to say Rite Of Passage also won Best Thriller at the 2009 First Light Awards, which has earned us a lot of and national local press coverage.
If you have a group of young people who you think might benefit from doing a film project with Ideal Films, go to the Contact page and get in touch.
Genuine Work Experience
We also offer young people the opportunity to work on commercial commissions to build their skills. For instance, young people did all the filming and interviews on 'A Shared Vision For Swindon', an important corporate production we did for the Swindon Strategic Partnership:
